Eligibility Conditions

The applicants must fall into one of the following categories :-

a] The candidate may be
    (i) Wards / wives of serving Army personnel.
    (ii) Wards / wives of ex Army personnel granted / awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
    (iii) Wards / wives of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge / release after ten years of service.
b] Adopted / Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows.
   
(i) Adopted Child of Army personnel adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.
    (ii) Step Children are eligible provided they are born out of wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army.
    (iii) Children of Widows of Army personnel who are born as a result of second marriage with Army personnel. However, children of widows of Army personnel born out of remarriage with Non – Army personnel would not be eligible for admission.
c] Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases.
   
(i) Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers / Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with IN / IAF. Wards of only those ex Army medical officers / Army Dental officers serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years.
d] Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS Personnel.
   
(i) Children of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Government of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
    (ii) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
    (iii) Children of APS personnel who are directly recruited into APS and of those who, as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS after completing their minimum pension able service.
e] Eligibility Criteria for Children of MNS / TA Personnel. The following are eligible:-
   
(i) Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
    (ii) Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

 Admission in these institutions will be governed by the following:-
(i) Priority of Admission for B.Ed. Colleges
   
(aa) All eligible candidates should be treated at par. There will be no priority or categorization.
   
(ab) 5% weight age be given to war widows / dependent of war widows (Army).
(ii) Definition of Dependent Children. Dependent children are defined as Sons / Daughters till marriage or employment which ever is earlier.

Candidates who are ineligible The following categories are not eligible :-
(i) Those who are not included in any of the categories mentioned in Para 22 above on the date of the commencement of the course.
(ii) A candidate who has passed any examination of a statutory university recognized as equivalent to the course in the college shall not be permitted to appear for the examination for the same course.

Eligibility Conditions
The candidates aspiring for admission to the B Ed course at Army Institute of Education must meet the eligibility criteria given below:-
Mandatory Requirement. The applicant must fall in any of the category listed above. Widows / war widows dependents of disabled personnel should be in receipt of regular / liberalized medical pension for being considered eligible.
Educational Qualifications
I For Graduates
(a) Candidates having passed Bachelor’s degree in humanities and social sciences with a minimum of 50% (fifty percent) marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects :-
(i) English (ii) Hindi (iii) Sanskrit
(iv) Urdu (v) Mathematics (vi) Civics/Political Science
(vii) Geography (viii) History (ix) Economics
Note : (i) The candidates must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects for graduates. These two subjects should be available as teaching subjects in the institute / college in which the candidate seeks to take admission.
(ii) The candidates who has studied either Civics (Political Science) or History or Geography or Economics will be eligible to take Social Sciences as one of the teaching subject.
(iii) The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at the graduation level or 12th level.
(iv) The B.Com students shall not be given Commerce/Business Studies/Accountancy/Economics as teaching subjects as these subject are not taught at the elementary and secondary level in schools.

(b) Candidates having passed Bachelor’s degree in Science with a minimum of 50% (fifty percent) marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects :-
(i) Physics (ii) Chemistry (iii) Mathematics (iv) Biology (v) Botany (vi) Zoology
(vii) Life Science
Note : (i) The candidates must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects for graduate. These two subjects should be available as teaching subjects in the institute / college in which the candidate seeks to take admission.
(ii) The candidates who have passed a paper either in Physics or Chemistry or Biology or Botany or Zoology or Life Science will be eligible to take Integrated Science as one of the teaching subjects.
(iii) The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at the graduation level or 12th level.
(c) However, the candidates having done B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Lib, M.Lib, BA (Vocational),BJMC/MJMC/B.Pharma/BCA/MCA/BBA/MBA/PGDMB/BPT/MPT/BHMCT/MBBS/BHMS/B.Arch/LLB/LLM and any other technical degree which does not come under Conventional School System* are not eligible for the B.Ed Programme.
* Conventional School System reference to clause (c) above refers to the subjects which are taught at the elementary, secondary and senior secondary stage in schools.
The candidates whose subjects do not come under the purview of the conventional subjects’ scheme such as Electronics/Instrumentation/Bio-informatics/Business Economics/Radiology/Nursing/Tourism/Advertising etc are not eligible to apply for the B.Ed Programme.

If a candidate having any of these degrees applies for Common Entrance Test for B.Ed Programme, he/she will not be allowed to appear in the test and if by default, he or she appears in the test, the admission will not be granted to such candidate.

II For Post Graduates
(a) Candidates having done post-graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects :-
(i) English (ii) Hindi (iii) Sanskrit
(iv) Physics (v) Chemistry (vi) Mathematics
(vii) Biology (viii) Botany (ix) Zoology
(x) Biotechnology (xi) Life Science (xii) Chemistry
(xiii) Accountancy (xiv) Business Studies (xv) History
(xvi) Political Science (xvii) Economics (xviii) Geography
(xix) Psychology

Note : (i) The candidates will be allotted one of the teaching from the subjects listed above provided the same is being offered by the institute / college where the candidate seeks to take admission.
(ii) The candidates who has passed a paper either in Botany or in Zoology or in Biotechnology or in Bio- Chemistry or Life Science will be eligible to take Biology as one of the teaching subjects.
(iii) The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at post- graduation level or graduation level

Note As per GGSIP University rules widows/ war widows / wards of defense personnel will be allowed 5% relaxation of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement mentioned above.

III Age Limit As per the GGSIP University rules the candidates applying for B Ed course should be below 35 years of age as on 01 Aug 2013. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to a maximum of five years in exceptional cases by the competent authority in the university, if he/ she is satisfied with the merit of the case. Candidates exceeding the upper age limit up to five years may provisionally apply/ appear in the Combined Written Admission Test. These candidates would, however, be required to submit to the satisfaction of the institute/ university in regard to the reasons for the gap period e.g. the details of the period spent by him/ her after passing the qualifying examination to justify the upper age exceeding the prescribed limit at the time of admission/ counseling. The institute will admit these candidates to the course subject to the approval to be accorded by the University for Relaxation of age in their case.

Note: 1 Eligibility conditions mentioned above are as notified in the Admission Bulletin 2012- 13 issued by the GGSIP University. The eligibility conditions for the year 2013- 14 may change subject to the decision of the affiliating university. In case of any change in any of the eligibility conditions declared by the GGSIP University for the year 2013 - 14, the admissions to the B Ed course in Army Institute of Education will be made as per the new eligibility conditions to be laid down by university for admission to the B Ed course for the year 2013 - 14.

Besides fulfilling the eligibility conditions as given above the candidate should be certified as physically and mentally fit to pursue the B Ed course by a MH / RMO / Registered Medical Practitioner. A certificate to this effect in the enclosed form (Certificate No 8) is required to be submitted by the candidate along with his/ her application form.

Weightage to Gallantry Award Winners

    The wards of the Gallantry Award Winners will be given weightage in admissions as follows. Such candidates are required to submit the necessary proof to that effect for being considered for the weightage as per note 2 given below:-

(ii)         Uttam Yudh Seva Medal                        2%

(iii)        Yudh Seva Medal                                  1%

(c)        Mention in Dispatches                           1%

 (d)        War Widows/ Wards of war Widows        5% (Submit Certificate No. 2)

 Note:      1. The above-mentioned percentage of the respective gallantry award winner’s ward’s CWAT score will be added to his/ her actual CWAT score before drawing the overall merit list.    2.  A certified copy of the part II Order / Gazette notification conferring the award / copy of the award certificate should be attached with the application form for claiming the weightage. For Sena Medal (Gallantry) a certificate has to be obtained from MS – X that the Sena Medal awarded to the Officer is for acts of courage / bravery 

 Responsibility for Ensuring Eligibility

It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he / she possesses the requisite academic qualifications for the course and is eligible in all other respects as per the eligibility conditions given in this prospectus. The fact that a candidate has been permitted to appear in CWAT does not imply that his / her eligibility has been verified and accepted. The institute will verify the eligibility of the candidate at the time of his/ her admission to the course as also later during the scrutiny of papers by the university. In case of any change in the eligibility conditions for the session 2013-14 made by the university / NCTE at a later stage, the eligibility of the candidate to the course will be verified with reference to the eligibility conditions prescribed by the university/ NCTE at the time of admission to the B Ed course.  If a candidate is found to be ineligible at any stage during the entire process, the college reserves the right to cancel his/ her candidature / admission to the course.
